The Sims 4 is the newest installment in the popular series. It gave players far more customization options than ever before, allowing anyone to create their own character of any shape, size, color, and style imaginable. But just like with any game that's meant to be socially interactive, people were bound to find ways of breaking the game by overstepping boundaries that weren't made explicitly clear. One example is "incest mods." These allow you to pair up your children with another family member by manipulating their ages and eventually marrying them off. Now, this is obviously pretty weird if it were an actual person, but since it's a video game, people are asking how far EA will go to censor these things. After all, this isn't the first time people have used mods to do something questionable. But once again, EA has shown their approach to the issue: No Censorship... Now, this is obviously pretty weird if it were an actual person, but since it's a video game, people are asking how far EA will go to censor these things. After all, this isn't the first time people have used mods to do something questionable. But once again, EA has shown their approach to the issue: no censorship. The Sims 4 does not censor controversial content because that would only serve to prevent players from experiencing everything the game has to offer," said an EA representative in an official response. "The Sims 4 is a simulation game that offers players a range of possibilities to live their dreams or to experience their nightmares. At the same time, we have a team of moderators who watches over the player experience and takes action when necessary." In an interview with Polygon, Maxis producer Lyndsay Pearson said that EA's approach extends beyond The Sims to other franchises in the company. "This is an ongoing discussion about what is appropriate in the game," Pearson said. "We don't want to be in a situation where we're saying no to things people might find entertaining." Of course, there are some lines that need not be crossed. "We still think some lines need to be drawn around mature content," said Pearson. "The line of what is appropriate for an 18-year-old is different than what would be appropriate for a 12-year-old." That's a little bit of a cop out, in my opinion. If you're going to allow people to do something in a game that was never intended to be done, then you need to draw boundaries with some clarity. If I'm going to be the parent of my own child, then I should at least know how they've been raised and if their brains have been changed in any way. If they've been raised by someone else, then I should at least know how close they've been kept up with their own environment... But no worries. cfa1e77820
