Ek: The Power of One is a film about a single man who is given the impossible task of saving his entire civilization. To say that this film is long would be an understatement. It has been in production for just over ten years and this has led to some unfortunate issues. For one, the film's original star could not continue with production because he had to go on hiatus due to health reasons. This led to his replacement being able to only shoot for six months before needing time off for personal reasons as well. These individuals were both replaced and Ek: The Power of One premiered at home in its country in 2016 and will be released in theatres worldwide later this year (2017). The story is an interesting one that takes place in the ancient past of the country of India. It tells the tale of a young man named Ek who is destined to become a great warrior for his people. With this destiny comes many personal challenges to overcome, including surviving an attack by dangerous animals, winning over the one he loves, gaining the trust of his fellow tribes-people and dealing with betrayal within his own family. The film is directed by James Wheeler and Jason Wheeler. The pair are collectively known as the Wheelers Brothers and they have previously worked together on films like "Beware! The Blob" (1972) and "La Catedral del Mar" (2004). The story was written by Jason Wheeler and Elizabeth Koch and the screenplay was written by Jason Wheeler and Angelica Nwandu. The two share a credit on another action adventure film that is currently in pre-production titled "The Enforcer". Ek: The Power of One is a film that has been a long time in the making. The production cycle of this film began way back in 2004 when a production company called Crystal Sky reached out to Indian filmmaker Satish Kaushik. He at the time was the president of one of India's top production companies, Percept Picture Company, and had been working in the industry since he founded his first company back in 1986. His latest film at the time was a critically acclaimed action adventure that had been released in 2003 called "Sarfarosh" and he was looking to make his next project a science fiction film. He took them up on their offer and began working with the Crystal Sky production company on the script for this new film. The story is an interesting one that combines science fiction, action adventure and drama which has helped make it popular with fans of these kinds of films. The biggest issue with this film is its pacing and how it is structured around three different storylines that end up coming together to form this whole. For that reason, the story has been split up into three parts with each part focusing on a different character. The film premiered in India in 2011 and was later released to theatres there in 2014. The film's budget was $12 million, $6 million of which came from Indiespend which is Indian government financed tax credit scheme for film production company. The remaining $6 million was raised by the production company through bank loans which they then had to pay back with interest while also making it clear that they would pay off the loans after distribution of the film. The film held its premiere at the Festival of India Film Heritage in September 2014 where it showcased alongside other Indian films that were produced earlier in 2013 and 2014. cfa1e77820
